Joana Maria Fortes Monteiro, 69, of Pawtucket, RI passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2024. Born in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde to the late Cesar Tiago and Maria Teresa Fortes. She was the loving wife to the late Americo P. Monteiro.

She is survived by her children Renato Monteiro, Jailson Monteiro, Americo Monteiro, Julia Fortes Glicerio, Joao Monteiro (who she treated like her son), grandchildren Malik Monteiro, Parisa Monteiro, Niziyah Monteiro, Kylie Monteiro, Skylar Monteiro, Jayda Monteiro, Nereida Lima, Katy Dias, Paulo Dias, Enzo Fortes, Great Grandchildren Denis Glicerio, Liam Lima, siblings Julio Fortes(from Cape Verde), Antonio Fortes (from Luxemburg), Albertina Fortes (from Portugal). She also leaves behind her bestfriend Adelia Oliveira.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, April 28th from 4pm-7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Her funeral will begin on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Ave. Pawtucket at 10am. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
